Hello, my name is Brian Halliday. I have taught English in Portugal,
Venezuela, Spain and England since 1994. By combining
accommodation with tuition I am able to offer home tuition at a
substantial saving compared with a conventional language school.
I have a large house in Portsmouth on the South Coast of England.
There are two double and two single rooms in my house providing
accommodation for up to 6 people. Meals are not included but you
will have full use of all facilities, kitchen, washing machine,
television etc.
Language Lessons
- There will be three hours of lessons each morning from
Monday to Friday. It is my experience that more than this
is not productive. You can only take in so much in a day.
When you are in England of course you are learning all
the time. I expect to be able to offer better tuition
than you could expect at a normal language school because
of the small group size and the amount of personal
contact.
About Portsmouth
- Portsmouth is a large naval port 120 kilometres south of
London. It has a 5 kilometre long pebble beach. The sea
is warm enough to swim comfortably in the Summer. The
area is the centre of yachting in England with many
marinas. The city sees itself as a tourist resort and has
several attractions connected to its naval history. It is
a major cross channel ferry port with boats to France and
Spain.
- People are generally friendly and helpful. I have lived
in the city for over 20 years and found it to be a safe
and peaceful town.
